Saira Faris has worked in the public and voluntary sector in public programs where she has been responsible for supporting K-12 and adult learners with their education and career goals. Most recently, Saira worked as part of the management team at Hayward Unified School District as part of the Youth Enrichment Program, supporting afterschool programming. Building on this experience, Saira currently works as a Program Manager for the Expanded Learning Office in the Oakland Unified School District. Here, she supports a network of elementary school sites and co-leads the Equity Initiative, an additional enrichment program offering equity and identity-related programs to support students' sense of self and belonging.

Saira Faris is committed to supporting students from underserved communities to experience and benefit from programming they may not otherwise be exposed to or, more critically, have access to. She is interested in advocating for equity across learning and resource allocation to support students achieve their goals, and striving for favorable outcomes for students and their families to build enriched and fulfilled communities.

Saira was born and raised in the UK and moved to the US 19 years ago, though still boasts a very noticeable accent.
